Overview

SS-31 (also known as Elamipretide) is a synthetic tetrapeptide that targets the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it binds cardiolipin to stabilize mitochondrial function. It has been studied in the context of neurodegenerative diseases, muscular dystrophy, kidney and heart dysfunction, and general age-related mitochondrial decline. Its antioxidant-like mechanism helps improve ATP production, reduce ROS, and enhance cellular resilience.
