Overview

Melanotan 2 (MT2) is a synthetic analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), originally developed to promote skin pigmentation by stimulating melanin production. It has also been studied in preclinical models for its effects on sexual arousal, appetite suppression, and photoprotective properties. Research interest includes its role in reducing UV exposure while achieving skin darkening, as well as its interaction with melanocortin receptors involved in sexual function and energy balance.
